2026 Travels

lasvegas.png

On May 3, Susan and I flew to Las Vegas, primarily to see the Wizard of Oz at the Sphere.

The night we arrived we walked from our hotel to the Sphere just to look at it.

It was fun to watch the facial expressions change. Every day in the morning, a coffee cup appears and the face looks as if it is drinking the contents. Very funny!

I found the Sphere to be absolutely mesmerizing; I couldn't stop watching it. No matter where I was in the city, I tried to find the Sphere just to see what was on display.

In the morning of our first full day, we went to the Arte Museum.

In this room not only could you see the flowers, but you could smell them and see them under your feet on the floor.

This museum is well worth the cost of admission.  Unfortunately, I am having trouble uploading the video's and they are capable of showing more of the sensory experience of the museum.

I capured a still of this deer, made if butterflies, as it was running through the forest.  Other animals appeared, a different one for each season.

In this room it was difficult to determine where the glass was as opposed to where you could walk.

The Wizard of Oz was the highlight of the  trip.  The show runs until the end of December and you should try to go see it, if at all possible.

Read no further if you don't want to know what happens.

You are watching the original movie from August 25, 1939.

While the tornado gains momentum your chair begins to rock. Wind picks up in the theater and there is debris (leaves) flying around. You can smell dust and hay in the air.

Finally the mouth of the tornado turns and you go inside it.

During the tree scenes with the apples, there are apples falling from the sky and when Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion fall asleep in the Poppy's, and snow begins to fall, snow is falling on you.
